Healthy VS. Unhealthy Relationships

Today’s blog post is going to be about relationships. I truly believe that relationships are the center of the human world, as we are relational beings that must interact with various people throughout our lifetime. Learning how to be in effective, happy and healthy relationships begins with learning how to be a healthy and happy individual. The problem is that we aren’t always whole or healthy prior to starting relationships. We may not even be aware of this fact. Past relationships or traumas that we experienced during childhood, for example, can influence the people we are today and any scars or baggage we carry around with us. These inadvertently may affect the kind of relationships we are able to develop and maintain with others.             Past hurts may make us stronger and teach us lessons that have a positive impact on our future relationships. That is the ideal. However, that indicates that the person has gone through a period of healing, acceptance, and has

100% Cotton Flannel Reusable Tampon Review

For those of you interested in reusable cloth menstrual products, have you ever thought about using cloth tampons? No? Neither did I for a long while. In fact, I didn't even know there were such things as cloth tampons. Cloth pads, cloth diapers, sure, but not cloth tampons. Even after hearing about reusable tampons, the thought for some reason was not appealing to me at first. I used cloth pads, but was not sure if I would be comfortable using cloth tampons. I researched for a while, finding very little information. So, I did what I do best...I decided to explore uncharted (or at least not very well charted) territory. I wanted to give them a try to see what I thought about them and then to review these options for others who are considering it, but cannot find much information about them.  In order to do this, I knew I needed to try a variety of reusable tampons by a variety of sellers and companies. I tried four different reusable tampon products, all made by different s

Reusable Menstrual Sponge Tampons

Sponges purchased at Poseidon Sponges via Ebay.  www.poseidonsponge.com This next blog post has long been over due. I was meant to write reviews about a variety of menstrual items that I purchased last year, but then became pregnant! While I was able to test out many of the items I will be reviewing, one I was not able to. However, this particular post will focus on the sponge tampons, which I have used and have come to love. The sponges that I purchased are from a company called Poseidon Sponges, located in Greece. I made this purchase via ebay and chose this company's sponges over other sellers, due to price, quantity, the fact that they have strings attached to the sponges (makes removing them a breeze!), they came in a variety of sizes, and they came with tea tree oil cleaner. Please note that I am not affiliated with this company in any way and am not writing this post to endorse them in any way. I just to let my readers know what options are out there. Upon receivin

Adventures in Homeschooling

My husband and I have decided to begin homeschooling our 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter, this year. We have chosen to utilize a combination of curriculums and these include Easy Peasy All In One Homeschooling, The Genesis Curriculum, and Time4Learning. These will be explained later on in this post, along with links to where you can find out more information about these curriculums if you are interested. As a disclaimer, I am in no way getting paid for blogging about these. I just wanted to share with other newbies out there the choices I have personally made in regards to homeschool curriculums for my own family. We are excited and a little bit apprehensive about beginning on this new journey. Well actually, if I am being honest, I'm a bit terrified and worried that I won't be consistent or effective enough as a homeschooling mommy/teacher to really help my kids succeed. I have so much on my plate as it is, yet also feel the motherly pressure inside me that has been

Your Mind Vs. Your Heart: Which Should be Listened to?

Today, I came across a post shared by a well respected man, Trent Shelton. If you do not know who Trent Shelton is, I highly suggest you search for him on YouTube or Facebook. His messages are uplifting, real, and will keep you holding strong during life's struggles. I personally, really enjoy his messages. However, today was a little different. Today, I read a post that he shared on Facebook which stated that we should listen to our minds, not our hearts. This perplexed me....and this is why....      It is my belief that we have both one heart and one mind for a reason. To not consider the advice that both give us and to only ever listen to one is like neglecting one side of the story when making a decision. The messages that one (your heart or brain) may give you may not be 100% wise, accurate, or smart. True, only listening to one's heart can be dangerous, risky, and destructive; leading to hurt, pain, and loss. However, only listening to your mind can be jus

Reusable Menstrual Cloth Pads and Tampons

The title of this blog post may put some people off at first. After all, the thought of reusing menstrual items is not something many people would gladly jump at the chance to do, mostly due to the fact that periods are considered an uncomfortable topic of discussion and there is many misinformation or lack of information regarding it. Let's face it, not everyone grows up with parents who teach us about reusable alternatives. So, naturally, I believe many of us shy away from such topics, while others run away screaming.  When I have tried to breach this topic in conversation with my friends, I have received all kinds of replies, such as "Eeewww!!!", "You use what?", "Isn't that unsanitary?" , and "Why in the world would you choose to do that when you can use disposables?"   I used to be one of you naysayers, too scared of her own crotch to consider such a thing due to the ick factor. However, it's time that we stop thinking of m
